Freestyle Ice - WINTER 2021

Registration closes today

The Skating Club at Dartmouth (SCAD), a US Figure Skating member club, offers freestyle sessions four to five-days per week during the skating season. SCAD freestyle skaters have the option of 1) contracting for specific sessions 2) purchasing coupon books good on any regular season freestyle session –or- 3) paying a per-skate walk-on fee*
*Walk-on fee must be paid online and only good for day of purchase.

Freestyle sessions are split according to testing level. Over time the designations may change to balance demand. For the 2020/21 season the following designations are in place:
-Freestyle Test Level Sessions- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday #1 and Friday #2
Open to any skater who has passed Free Skate 2 and/or Pre-Preliminary Moves in the Field (MIF) or higher.

-Open Level Freestyle Sessions– Sunday
Open Freestyle sessions are open to skaters who have passed Basic 6 and up.
Note: Skaters in Pre-Free Skate thru Free Skate 2, must also be enrolled in at least one Free Skate group class per week. These classes are offered on Mondays and Thursdays– see the Basic Skills thru Free Skate 2 forms for details.

Freestyle policies and details for Winter Freestyle Session schedule and pricing are available here. All freestyle sessions are held at Campion Rink unless otherwise noted.

The registration deadline is December 31st, after which registrations will be accepted on a space available basis and subject to a $15 late fee. Skaters may also purchase coupons -- good on any session --

PLEASE NOTE***For the Winter 2021 session, those skating on coupons OR walk-ons who have not previously contracted out a session MUST email sk8info@skatingclubatdartmouth.org at least 24 hours before the start of the session to secure their spot.

Freestyle Ice - Coupon Book 2020/2021

SCAD skaters who are unable to commit to a consistent set of sessions are able to purchase a coupon book which offers better per skate pricing than paying a walk-on fee. Coupon Books are $135 for 5 coupons. Coupons are good throughout the SCAD 2020-2021 season on any regularly scheduled Test Level and Open Freestyle session for which the skater is eligible and on which there is space. Coupon skaters must check in with the Rink Monitor at the start of the session and have a coupon book on file.

Coupon skaters need to have an active USFS membership and have paid the annual SCAD Membership Fee. Coupons are non-transferable.

Freestyle Ice - DAILY WALK ON for 60 min sessions

SCAD skaters who are unable to commit to a consistent set of sessions or want to purchase a coupon book are now able to purchase a daily walk-on fee online. WALK-ON Fee is ONLY GOOD FOR DAY OF PURCHASE. Skaters can purchase a walk-on fee during the SCAD 2020-2021 season on any regularly scheduled Test Level and Open Freestyle session for which the skater is eligible and on which there is space. SKATERS MUST check in with Jacki at least 24 hours before the start of the session to ensure there is space before purchasing walk-on.

Skaters need to have an active USFS membership and have paid the annual SCAD Membership Fee. Coupons are non-transferable.

Basic Skills thru Free Skate 2 - Winter 2021

Registration is closed

SCAD offers top quality instruction and small group ice skating lessons following the Learn to Skate USA curriculum endorsed by US Figure Skating, USA Hockey and US Speedskating. The group classes teach children the fundamentals of skating, building confidence through each lesson. With this foundation, skaters can choose to skate recreationally or to focus on figure skating, hockey or speedskating.

Given COVID guidelines, in order to keep everyone safe, our transition times between groups and allowing for social distancing will be included in the 40 min time frame. A skater must master all skills at a given level before progressing to the next one.
Schedule: Skaters may choose to skate one or two sessions per week.
-Mondays – 4:40-5:20pm at Campion –We will be using some this time to transition from our freestyle group and learn to skate group as well as exiting the ice in a socially distanced manner. There will be some organized open skating time before their 30 min group lesson.
-Thursdays – 4:35-6:00pm at Campion – a skater’s specific time depends on level and numbers. Group 1 will be 4:35-5:15 and group 2 will be 5:20-6:00. Over time there will be some organized open skating time in addition to their 30 min group lesson but we will be using some of the ice time to transition between our groups in a safe and socially distanced manner.

Session pricing is discounted for those skaters who register for both days.

Hockey - Winter 2021

Skaters who have passed Basic 2, may choose to move into the Learn to Skate USA Hockey track. The Hockey track focuses on edge work, stops/starts, crossovers, backward skating and techniques that build power. Skaters will be ready for Power Skating after completing the Hockey 1-4 badge levels.

The 2020/21 Skating Season

We are pleased to announce we will be skating this season! 

For planning purposes our 2020-21 session dates are:

(Please note that these dates are subject to change so check back to confirm.)

Learn to Skate Program

  • Fall 1: September 28 thru October 29 *Registration begins September 18 and ends September 24*
  • Fall 2: November 16 thru December 17 *Registration begins Nov. 2 and ends Nov. 12* (NO CLASS 11/26)
  • Winter: January 4th through Feb. 18th, 2021 *Registration begins Dec. 21st and ends Dec. 31st.*
  • Spring: Dates TBD *Registration details TBA*

Freestyle Program

  • To register online:
  1. Click on the red bar at the top of the page "Click Here to Login / Register"

  2. Select "Create an account" -- you will select a password and set up basic account information for yourself (parent/guardian)

  3. After you submit, you will be taken to a "Family Account" page.  Please "Add an Adult" if you would like to have a second parent or guardian listed on your account as a contact.  Otherwise choose "skip"

  4. On the "Choose Registrant" page you will have an opportunity to add your child's information.  Select "New Child" and click "Register Now"

  5. You will be asked to select the specific session, add emergency contact information and agree to the Consent form.

  6. At this point you may either "Check Out" or add another skater/session to your cart by clicking “Register” 

  7. At Check-out you have the option of paying by credit card

To login to an existing account:

  1. Click on the red bar at the top of the page "Click Here to Login / Register"

  2. In the gray box, type in your email address and password and click on the red "Login" button

  3. You will be taken to a Welcome page that will show you prior registrations and give you an option to "Register to Play/Participate"

  4. Click on "Register to Play/Participate" and you will see a list of current individuals on the account.  Select the skater you wish to register or click "Add Child" and select "Register Now"

  5. You will be asked to select the specific session, add emergency contact information and agree to the Consent form

  6. At this point you may either "Check Out" or add/select another skater/session to your cart by clicking “Register” 

  7. At Check-out you have the option of paying by credit card or by check.  If you pay by check, please mail it to P.O. Box 914, Hanover, NH 03755

  8. If you wish to update any account information, including Emergency Contact, insurance or medical information, you may do so by selecting on the right side of the page "Account Settings" under "Account Options" and following instructions from there.

To reset your Password:

  1. Click on the red bar at the top of the page "Click Here to Login / Register"

  2. In the gray box, "Reset Password" link to the right of the "Login" button

  3. Enter your Login email and submit by clicking on the "Send me my new Password" button

  4. Check your email for a new password.  The email will be sent from SportsSignup.com

  5. Enter your Login email and new password, then click "Login"

  6. You will be taken to a Welcome page that will show you prior registrations and give you an option to "Register to Play/Participate"

  7. Click on "Register to Play/Participate" and you will see a list of current individuals on the account.  Select the skater you wish to register or click "Add Child" and select "Register Now"
